University of Reading commissioned Francis Joinery to create a new foyer area for their JJT/ Maths building.  The project is part of a wider scheme to renovate the building and make the reception area into a hub for student support and activity.

The building’s entrance provides an important first impression for students and visitors.

Francis Joinery created the focal point for the entrance.

Joinery Project Details

The new reception area has been made possible by relocating two departments to different floors which opens up the ground floor for use as the student hub.

The project used oak and robust solid surfaces which the team transformed into unique slatted door paneling.  Identical ceiling decoration was also created which matched precisely where it joined with the new door.  A brand new curved reception desk finishes off the project.

The Francis Joinery team delivered and installed the woodwork in situ at the JJT/ Maths building on completion.

The quality of the workmanship that Francis Joinery produced for the project is fantastic.  The desk and slatted wall fitted perfectly. The use of oak and solid surfaces is testament to the versatility of the tradesmen who manufactured it creating a striking centrepiece for the reception area.
