Tulipwood transforming the basement of a townhouse

Whilst carrying out repeat business work at Grange Park Opera House, the main contractor approached us to ask whether we could meet with one of their clients to discuss joinery requirements for their basement fit-out.

A new staircase was handcrafted to copy the existing fights in the London townhouse. The flight was made from tulipwood with curved open string and hand turned spindles. A continuous mahogany handrail was provided in addition to brass inlays to the leading edges of the treads.

Windows and an external door screen were provided at ground level. These were constructed with security in mind, incorporating anti-bandit glazing. Below the box sash windows, radiator covers with rattan panels were made from tulipwood.

Niche cupboards were included either side of the fireplace in the main living space. All elements supplied were primed.

A collaborative approach was adopted from the outset to ensure the client was satisfied with the design, manufacture and installation of all joinery.
