A complete library fit-out, crafted to last
Francis Joinery was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive package of bespoke joinery as part of the conversion of a historic barn into a fully functioning private library, alongside additional works within the main house.
The project involved a complete internal library fit-out, including the design and manufacture of bespoke bookcases crafted from oak veneered MDF, stained to a rich dark oak finish and lacquered for durability. Dedicated desk areas were also created using solid oak paired with Marmoleum surfaces, providing a practical yet refined workspace in keeping with the building’s character.
Throughout both the barn and the main house, we supplied and installed all new internal doors and frames, manufactured from solid oak and TG&V boards. All doors were fire door assessed and approved, ensuring compliance without compromising on appearance or quality.
A striking feature of the project was the main staircase, expertly crafted from solid oak, complete with handrails and brass inserts to the treads, adding a subtle yet distinctive design detail.

Quality craftsmanship, delivered on time
All elements were manufactured in our workshop and installed on site by our skilled team, ensuring a consistent level of quality throughout. Despite a tight programme resulting from earlier construction constraints, we worked efficiently and collaboratively to meet the project deadline, delivering a high-quality result without compromise.
The completed scheme blends craftsmanship, functionality, and thoughtful material use, transforming the space into a characterful and practical library environment that complements the building’s heritage.
